A single stray fireplace ember caused this horrific damage within a beautiful early 18th-century Colonial in New Marlboro. The ensuing restoration project involved careful removal of the damaged infrastructure so that minimal original beams and joists would need replacement.
Those structural elements that were replaced were painstakingly crafted to match their original counterparts in every facet of form and design. Antique lumber and other materials were implemented so that the finished restoration bore little or no indication as to the damage it had suffered.
